DUNCAN GILLESPIE

March 19, 1934 – February 2, 2018

Duncan Gillespie, age 83, born into a family of pioneer settlers of Slate River, passed away peacefully with family by his side on February 2, 2018. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his children Jan, Craig (Jodi) and Kyle (Kim), his grandchildren Chloe, Connor, Logan and Kate whom he loved dearly and were his greatest joy, his brother Bill (PJ), sister in-law Mag Morton, brothers in-law Teddy Murphy and Jim Murphy, cousin Mary (Ed) and family, and other nieces and nephews in the United Kingdom and the United States. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered. Cremation has occurred and in accordance with Duncan’s wishes, private interment and celebration of a life well-lived, will take place in Jamaica at a later date.
If friends or relatives so desire, in lieu of cards or flowers, donations may be made to the Underground Gym, the Palliative Care Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital or a charity of your choice. A special thank you to Dr. Hartford, Patty Poole, palliative care specialists, Dr. Bezanson and Dr. Dykstra and the caring nurses on the 4th floor hospice unit at St Joseph’s Hospital, for their compassionate guidance and support, allowing Duncan to pass away with comfort and dignity. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay. The day of calm, that gives life its rest.
