Obituary for Mrs. Shirley Valentine Jardine (Loggie)

JARDINE

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the very peaceful passing of our Mother, Shirley Valentine Jardine (Loggie), on October 30, 2018, at home with her family by her side.

Mom was born in Ludlow, New Brunswick on May 26, 1929 to Ruby and John Loggie, and was one of 10 siblings. Although our parents relocated to Ontario early on to raise their family, Mom always referred to New Brunswick as home, and returned to visit whenever possible.

She made many friends over the years and loved socializing and being involved with her community. She also enjoyed bingo, fishing, camping, travelling, spending time with her many grandkids, and will always be remembered for her famous molasses cookies, a recipe which was passed down to her by her mother.

Mom is predeceased by her husband Dan Jardine (2009), infant twin sons (1950), son-in-law Roy Cross (2011), as well as her parents and seven siblings.

Surviving to mourn her loss are her sisters, Thelma Sobey and Nita Sommers, both of New Brunswick; her children, Linda Cross, Wanda Logan (Jim), Velma Jardine (John Cameron), Joan Hardy (Mark) and Brian (Jody Nuttall); eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Mom is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws across Canada and the U.S.

According to their wishes, a service will be held for the interment of our parents’ ashes with their twin sons in Maple Glen, N.B., at a later date. An Open House will be held on Saturday, November 3, at her residence at 326 S. Franklin Street, Thunder Bay, beginning at noon. All friends and family are very welcome.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
