Obituary for Mr. Michael William John Hartley

Michael William John Hartley

Michael Hartley 50 yrs. passed away unexpectedly in TBRH Sept. 16th 2020. Survived by his wife Treina Hartley, son Dalton Hay, daughter Kassidi Hartley, parents Len & Diane Hartley and sister Linda Hartley-Ngugi (Joel Ngugi – deceased).
Michael ran his own business Café West Arthur with his wife Treina for over 20 years, greeting customers and friends with a hot cup of coffee, the scent of baked muffins and conversation each morning. He made countless friends with his sociable, outgoing personality. He always had a way of making people smile and laugh. Mike enjoyed weekends, the great outdoors and bonfires with his wife and friends at his camp at Dragonfly Resort on Whitefish. “Mikey” was always up to shenanigans with his children, fishing off the dock fighting a 4 foot Pike with his son Dalton, until it broke the line and the bobber floated away. He and Kassidi would Quad for hours and return as Mud Creatures or taunt each other as they played hide-and-seek after stealing each other’s chocolate bars. The pranks, practical jokes and mischievous giggles will always be a source of humour and fond memories.
Mike was forever lending a hand or his truck. From moving day, fixing vehicles with the gang in the garage to repairing or building anything in a unique way - you called and he was always the first to be there.
We would like to thank his family doctor Steve Klassen and the ICU staff at TBRH for their compassion, patience and gentle care.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
