Obituary for Mr. James "Jim" Arnold Rice

Mr. James “Jim” Arnold Rice, age 71 years, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 31, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Jim was born in Duncan, British Columbia on August 7, 1951 to Russell and Pearl (nee Makar) Rice. He had a long and successful career as an electrician, making many friends along the way. Jim married Beatrice Prairie and they had a wonderful life, full of memories. Jim was a hardworking, quiet and simple man, helping everyone he could. He was very smart and a self proclaimed “hippie”. Above all else, Jim's family was his greatest passion. He enjoyed spending time together, especially with his grandchildren, teaching them while watching cooking shows. He was a dedicated husband, a wonderful father, a loving grandfather and will be deeply missed.

Jim is survived by his wife Beatrice; children Kyle Shore (B.C.), Jason Flink, Shawn Flink, and Madison Nevrly; grandchildren Jordan Flink and Jari Flink; brothers Don, Fred (B.C.), Dave (Toronto), Ian (B.C.), Paul (Dryden), Maurice “Mo” (Toronto) and sisters Lila (Toronto) and Ellen (Toronto). Numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins also survive.

He was predeceased by his parents and other relatives.

A private family celebration of Jim's life will take place. Should friends so desire, donations made in his name to the Children's Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
