Obituary for Mr. Niall Anthony Sabbe

NIALL SABBE
June 25, 1945 – March 21, 2023

Mr. Niall Anthony Sabbe, age 77 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 with his family by his side. We are heartbroken to lose someone so special. Our loving husband, caring father and compassionate papa.

Niall was born in Fort William on June 25, 1945 to Brian and Doris (Brooks) Sabbe. Niall was a proud Sheet Metal Worker through Local 397, until retirement. Through his life, he was blessed with growing 3 families and helping raise 7 children. Niall has always been one to debate the happenings of the world and could always throw in his quick wit to calm any conversation. He always loved the outdoors and had a story for any occasion. Later in life he was diagnosed with COPD which reduced many of his adventures, but he became very passionate about yard sales, always bartering for the best deals. Niall was always a curious man sparking up conversation with anyone who would talk. Many times he would be dragged out of a yard sale because he was chatting to everyone and they needed to get to 4 more yard sales. Anyone who met Niall had an instant smile put on their face. Niall loved his whole family very much.

Niall is survived by his wife of 37 years, Charlotte (Hakli); his children Colleen Dickey (Alvin), Allan (Doris), Shawn (Nicole), Britta (Tony), Daniel (Katie), Rachel Rogoza (Dan) and David; his grandchildren Kane, Jada, Kayden, Aleigha, Kristina, River, Dalton, Alexander, Axel, Stephanie, Jeremy and Tanner; his siblings, Patricia McPherson, Catherine Murray and Lynne Kryskow and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive.

He was predeceased by his parents, Brian and Doris (Bilian) Sabbe, 1st wife Marlene (Sorlie), 2nd wife llka Marina (Husfeldt) and brother Terrance.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Niall Sabbe will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 11:00am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

For those unable to attend, a video recording of the service will be available on the Everest of Thunder Bay website beginning Tuesday afternoon.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Deacon Dennis, Father Douglas McClure and staff at the Thunder Bay Regional’s ICU for their faith, compassion and support.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Niall to St Patrick’s Cathedral’s “St. Pat’s - Needs a Hat fund” would be greatly appreciated.
